Our founder Sonia has always felt a connection to holistic wellness and practices having been surrounded by ancient health practices during her time attending boarding school in the foothills of the Himalayas. While born in Kenya and having spent time growing up in Zambia and India, Sonia eventually moved to the United Kingdom for university and obtained her Economics degree from the School of Oriental and African Studies. One might have expected for her to immediately enter the world of holistic wellness here however she spent many years in the property development and then the spa & skincare industries before finally deciding to follow her intuition and pursue what was always closest to her heart.
Lusungu Children's Home
We are proud to support the work at Lusungu Children's Home in Zambia.
Lusungu provides a safe place for 35 children to live in the simplest form.These children have either been abandoned or lost parents due to serious diseases and have nowhere to turn.
Children eat sleep and grow when funds allow. Conditions are basic. Clothes, hands and dishes are washed outside at the pump. The rooms are bare and kids often share a bed. Often there is only enough food for one meal a day.
Zambia has the highest per capita orphan rate in the world and Lusungu is very close to our hearts as it is our Founder’s hometown and a percentage of proceeds from our sales go towards supporting the wonderful work of the volunteers at the orphanage.
Sonia is also working under the guidance of a renowned Ayurveda expert Karolina Raczynska (BA Hons, MA, MFA, MCM Ayurveda)
Karolina Raczyńska is a qualified Ayurvedic Medicine Practitioner and Yoga and Meditation teacher. She is the founder of Karuna Yoga & Ayurveda and the Ayurveda Healing Foundation.
Karolina completed her postgraduate degree in Ayurvedic Medicine at the Middlesex University in London (UK). She has further developed her clinical experience at numerous Ayurvedic hospitals, clinics and colleges in India, such as Gujarat Ayurveda University in Jamnagar, SDM Ayurveda Hospital in Hassan, KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research in Belgaum, and multiple Gurukulas under Vaidya Lavgankar in Pune, Vaidya Srinivas Acharya in Jamnagar and many more. Karolina practices Ayurveda in UK and Poland and organises regular Ayurveda Health retreats in India.
